Leaky Vailllant water heater

Post by Churzen on Sun Apr 12, 2015 7:52 pm

Hello fellow Autosleeper owners,

I have a leaky Vaillant water heater in my 1991 Talisman and I am trying to find a local repair person to me in Wotton under edge, GL12. If anyone can recommend someone I would be grateful.

Many thanks.

P.S. Had first trip away last weekend and it was great, despite the lack of running water! It has been a long time coming because I have been ill but now I am recovering the trip to Devizes was just what we needed.

Hi there,

I am mainly replying to bring the Post back to people's attention!

The standard Vailant heater is about as simple as you can get so my own advice would be to take a look at it yourself and work out where and why it is leaking.

When you find that out you may find that it can be repaired by yourself.

Here are a couple of useful sites for spares ....

Hope this helps. allthumbz

Best regards,

Thanks for the reply. I have since had someone out to look at my heater and luckily it appears to be repairable with a couple of new parts at minimal cost. It will be refitted and fully tested. Hot running water again, hurrah!

I froze mine 2 years ago and burst the heat exchanger. Got a new exchanger much cheaper from an on line plumber and fitted it myself. Drained the system this year and used a small heater to keep the temp up but the pump developed a leak. I think because it is fitted low down it froze. When I took it apart the seal was distorted.
