TV Abroad

Hi all  just a quick question. We are planning a trip to Belgium,Germany and Holland and wondered if it was worth taking the tv with us! We only have an aerial and freeview tv in the Clubman.

We were limited to Dutch TV for about three months on the boat and were amazed at how many English programmes they were showing.

They sometimes had Dutch subtitles but were mainly in English; which probably explains why most of the population spoke English. 

Well worth the effort in my opinion.

Have just returned from travelling to Berlin. Even with our satellite we were restricted to arabic and polish in germany, arabic again in holland and no english until we got to guines

We have the similar to you Baz, just a flying saucer TV aerial with booster, plugged into a bracket mounted 8 inch TV from Maplins. Seeing as it's always there we sometimes put it on when travelling around the continent, it's surprising how many channels you can pick up. Some in English even in far flung parts.. Only in French in France though, I think it's their law..

Thanks guys, based on what you say I will probably take it. I just wasn't sure if our digital tv worked abroad, I know on the old analog tv you had to have a dual standard tv. I remember some years ago in Netherlands we could only get sound but no vision. looking to see what could be left behind to make space for more wine! Perhaps I need a trailer! Baz
