Motorhome Stop Over Site, Preston area

Post by andygump on Mon Sep 19, 2011 9:50 pm

Hi

We have just returned from nine days in Scotland. On the way back we stopped over at a Site called "Rimmer House" Excellent facilities, all for £10 including EHU and a£5 pound voucher to spend at a local pub called the Hospital Inn. Great value for the money. Only draw back it is close to the Motorway so can be noisy, but we slept well. Good stop for those on the way up North Scotland or the Lakes, or those coming down on way to the Ports. Their phone number is 01772336043 WWW.rimmerhouse.com. They are open all year.

I have no connection with the site other than being a satisfied customer.

Andy up!

Was that in one of the directories or did you find it yourself ?

Hi Roli,

It was in one of the Directories, I think it was the Motorhome Stopover site. It is a very big Storage area, but the owner (Jim, very friendly) has created an area specifically for touring Motorhomes/Caravans with EHU,Water, Shower facilities etc. The meal at the Local Hospital was very acceptable too. Only drawback was the constant drone from the Motorway, but of course that allows for easy access as well. So + and -.

Hi Andy.

Thanks for that info. That location sounds good to me. Only a couple of months ago I was touring that part of the country and struggled to find a stopover in the Preston. Blackpool area. So will make a note of the details. As for the motorway noise can put up with that just for a night.
A meal ticket thrown in as well. Super.
Cheers. Whisky. up!

Excelent jumping off point for the Isle of Man ferry from either Liverpool, or Heysham, or for any one buying a motorhome from Marquis Preston

Brilliant, last time we came down the M6 in Sept from Stranrarer we thought we would stop over on a motorway service area and didnt realise they all seem to be max 2 hours or pay £16 - this looks perfect for me heading south. Thanks Andy

Thanks for that tip Andy.
Hoping to take a trip north next year and that is about the right distance from home for a stopover on the way up!

stopover site nr Preston

Stayed at this site while we were away Jim was very helpful but beware the pub voucher you get is only valid for meals from the main food menu not for drinks or snacks, for best value arrive before tea on a day when you intend to eat out. Also the motorway is right alongside the site and could disturb some people.
