Shrewsbury Campsite

Post by Guest on Fri Mar 06, 2015 3:05 pm

Our first outing (ever) was at the end of Feb to the Beaconsfield Holiday Park just outside Shrewsbury. I have nothing to compare the site with but I can say that we were greeted in a very friendly manner. Having explained that we were newbies, they offered every assistance.
The park was almost empty, as you imagine for this time of year, but it was very well kept with a small lake which were told was well stocked with fish. Fishing is permitted for a small fee. The facilities were excellent, being on hard standing with electric and water connections. Both waste disposal points were within easy walking distance. There was a good space with drain to empty grey water.
We used our on board shower so can't comment on the on site facilities.
The park is some way out of Shrewsbury so if you want to get to the park and ride you will need to take the van or alternative transport. We were told there was a bus service to Shrewsbury in the village but this is a good walk from the park.
On our final night we booked in their a la carte resturant. I am told it is vital you book in advance during peak season if you want to use the resturant. Suffice to say that the food is excellent. Extensive choice, well cooked with very good service. It's not cheap but well worth the money.
In conclusion we found the Beaconsfield Holiday Park an excellent site with friendly staff and all the amenities required. The price per night is at the top end from what I understand but still worth the extra.

Often thought of trying this site but as you said it's at the top end of the price chart. Glad you had a pleasant first trip out.

We use the Caravan Club site ,it's right next to the Park and Ride, in fact we are booked in there for the flower show in August.

That's even more expensive! as are all Morris's sites. There is a lovely site in the village of Ford on the Welshpool road, called Cartref but also about three miles out of Shrewsbury but our favourite there is the C&CC site Ebury Hill but also a fair way out of town.

There is an excellent Brit Stop about 3m out of town.
