York Rowntree Park CC site

Firstly driving into York is not recommended nor is parking, so this site could not be better located, a short walk along the river, over the bridge and you are in the town. No need to move your van or catch a bus.
The site is an all hard standing site, no pitches are far from the toilet block, reception, dish washing or washing machines as they are all contained in one block. There is a motorhome service point in the far corner and bins and chemical emptying are at points around the site. There was an annexed area called 'riverside' but with a bit of land selling/swooping this area has now moved and become part of the main site being completed whilst we were there. The site can flood and there are markers outside reception showing the levels, the last one being only 2012 so it's worth watching the weather before you go. This is perhaps the most popular site in the CC and weekends are nearly always showing as full but a phone call direct to the site may be worth making.
You won't be short of places to eat in York and there's plenty to see, ranging from the National Railway museum (free all the time), the Castle Museum, the Yorvik Centre and of course the Minster (but at £10 each to go in we gave that a miss. You can also walk around the walls or spend hours in the shops of which there are hundreds. On the edge of York there is also a Designer Outlet Centre for even more shops.
Certainly a great place to visit.

....it would be nice, but never been able to get in there !
We usually go to a really good CC CL, Willow House, on the Wiggington road - very good facilities, and an excellent farm shop and cafe.
Curiously, the CL is adjacent to all these, but the proper caravan site is right at the back, a long way back.
Best of all, a bus stop right outside to get into York.
