Drive away awning for a VW Gatcombe

Post by Ian Holbrook on Sat Jan 10, 2015 4:34 pm

Hello.

Can anybody help please.

We have just purchased a VW auto sleeper Gatcombe 202 reg and was wanting to buy a drive away awning for it.
I am not to sure how you would attach the awning to the vehicle and would any drive away awning be OK to buy?.
Does anybody know a website that sells one to fit our VW.

Thanks in advance for all answers Ian.

I appreciate you may not be fully aware of "internet forum etiquette", but posting the same question over and over again in every forum section is only going to irritate people, Ian.

No probs - we all have to start somewhere, without the benefit of prior knowledge. Sadly I don't know the answer to your question!

You will have to put on an awnning rail to the side of your van if you want a good fit for your awning on saying that I have seen part of the awning just thrown over the van roof and attached by by pegging it down. However,I dont think that is a good idea and not handy when you want to go out in the van for the day. Most dealerships sell the awning rail and can advise on the type of awning required.

Hi there, if you have a Fiamma awning already, there is a groove that runs all along  the front of it to which you attach a joining strip which the new awning then attaches to hence to drive away and leave awning behind, you just unattach the awning from the joining strip.

If you are interested, I have a brand new drive away awing complete with brand new Fiamma fixing kit which fits my VWT4 auto sleeper.  Momentum Cayman model no. 07-09-2013 02CL3482 which cost £190.00 and I will sell for £120.00 with the Fiamma Fix Kit wich normall costs £30.00
