Hi,
Some amazing bird watching in Spain can be also found on the Ebro Delta approximately 80 miles south of Barcelona. A really nice small camp site is Estenyett at Les Cases De Alcanar. Small family owned superb facilities ECT. I realise you didn't ask about this area but hope this helps. The bird watching on the Delta is very popular.

My favourite Laguna de Gallocanta south of Zaragoza N-234 amazing place for migatory birds. Stayed at camping Albaraccin nearest site to it. Albaraccin itself is very interesting. Quite a drive inland from N-234 but worth it.

I know that it is on the opposite side of Spain but a fairly comprehensive listing of bird sightings is maintained by the "The Birdman of Alcossebre (Spain)" and to be found at:

http://www.surfbirds.com/community-blogs/flamingo/

hope this helps .. regards Jeff

Missed this post Mrs P, but if you're interested in the birds of Extremadura it has to be Parque Nacional de Monfrague (Imperial Eagle, Eagle Owl, vultures, Black shouldered Kites, both bustards, sandgrouse etc...etc list too long!
This is what we have done in the past. (fwiw)

Site. http://campingmonfrague.es/

Out of season a quiet site and perfect for Monfrague and the EX 208 which runs through it to Trujillo. (amazing road, wherever you stop along it's length outside and inside the park there are birds!)
As we didn't want to move the van everyday we hired a Fiat 500 from Enterprise in Plasencia (2014 prices about Euro 18.95 daily with a Caravan Club discount and pre booked)
Hope this is of use.
BB
