Bay View Farm

We stayed at several different sites on our last trip, but have to say this was my favorite.

The site has a spectacular view overlooking Looe bay & St. George's island.

The toilet & shower facilities are in a converted farm outbuilding so a bit rustic, but very spacious as the cubicles can take a couple (or even a family) with ease.
The showers BTW are unisex which could put some off maybe but didn't really bother us. Also, in the same building are clothes washing facilities.

From the entrance to the campsite there is a coast path which takes you down to millendreath Bay, which in the past obviously had a big holiday camp complex which has sadly just been deserted.

The island of St. George was home to two sisters who lived alone on the island since the 1960's but have both now passed away. I found the story quite interesting and recently I saw on TV (think it was Coast) that the island is now owned & run as a nature sanctuary by the Cornwall Wildlife Trust, the house is now occupied by an elderly couple. This link tells the story better than I can: http://www.looe.org/island.html

Getting to the site is quite tricky as some of the roads are single file and extremely narrow in places, but I would go back if ever I wanted to stay in that area again for the view if nothing else. There are 3 webcams overlooking the site and family members were able to visit the website to keep updated on what we were up to! The webcam overlooking the pitch we stayed on can be viewed here: http://www.looebaycaravans.co.uk/webcam3.htm

The owner Mick has a number of Shire horses on the farm which he shows at various events around Cornwall, he is friendly enough without getting in the way of your privacy.
