I think it is only Italy and Spain where these warning plates are required for an overhanging load.

I think in Italy there is a requirement that the warning plate is made of Aluminium not plastic.
I also thought there was an overiding rule in the uk regarding any load which protrudes beyond the vehicle re extent of protrusion and fitting of warning signs.
Not sure what the limits are but there is lots of info on HM gov web sites.

In the UK projection markers (different signs) are required if the load or equipment overhangs the front or back by more than 2 M

see pdf at link:

I accept the fact of rules/regs abroad with this, main info is on the UK but all i can find legal for anything extending 2mtrs which the rack and bikes do not.It came up when i looked at the Fiamma covers which are rubbish anyway but when i asked in the shop about one without the plastic marker on, the chap said it was law to have it on in the UK,truelly a salesman that knows Fanny Adams

Have you actually loaded the bikes onto the rack?

The reason I ask is that I witnessed an electric bike being fitted to a Thule towbar rack and the bars that the wheels sit in, collapsed under the weight!

Maybe your bikes are a lighter weight?

PB

Maybe yours is this one in which case please ignore the above!!

Thule EuroPower 916
